OBITUARY.

CAPTAIN KENNEDY. WELLINGTON, March 10. Captain Kennedy, one of the best-known shipmasters in ths Dominion, who has 'been navigating in these waters since 1854, died yesterday morning. He came out to i that place as second officer of the steamer j Nelson, and subsequently took charge of the Wonjja Wonga, a well-known intercolonial and coastal trader. He was afterwards in command of tho steamer Airedale and also coraanded the Lord Ashley and other vessels of the Panama-New. Zealand and Australian Royal Mail Company. He next joined the "Wellington Steam Navigation Company, afterward* transferring to the Union Company in 1876, and going through the whole fleet r-« master 1 :- He leaves a grown-up family.
