♦ SUPPOSED ATTEMPT ON HIS LIFE* MADRID, March 10. Enormous sympathetic crowds welcomed King Alfonso to Barcelona. March 11. King Alfonso inaugurated a new streefe in Barcelona and attended a gala concert* in the Licee Theatre. He received an ovation everywhere. March 12. Before daybreak yesterday a bomb was exploded on the outer quay at Barcelona,, but the damage done was slight. The matter was concealed until night. King Alfonso visited the Austrian squad!* Ton, and took luncheon aboard the flag* ship. He received repeated ovations in; the workmen's and other quarters of th* city. He returned to Madrid in the even,* ing. The bomb waa loaded with a powerful explosive, and was filled with pieces of iron. It was placed in a sewer under the l&ncU ing 6tage, whence King Alfonso intended to start on his visit to the Austrian^ squadron. The explosion was evidently premature. Everyone who heard it attributed it t» the firing of a gun on a warship. Had a crowd been on the stage manjj would have been killed. Two arrests have been made. March 13. A bomb at Barcelona exploded yesteiv - day during ita removal from, the inside of an armoured van, near the game spotk as the one exploded yesterday. A third one was found in a frequented promenade in the centre of Barcelona.
