BOWLING.

w forw "* »"**« .1.... P i. 7 «< NOTES BY JICK. Interest in the interclub matches in and about Dunedin on Saturday was marred by the north-east gale which -was blowing. Th© hill greens received the full benefit of the "blow," and, while it was amusing to the onlooker who secured a sheltered spot to watch the vain endeavours of the players to get near the jack, it was serious work for the bowlers, who vainly strove to gauge the strength of the gusto. The state of affaire on the other Seena was not quite bo bad, but it was d enough to disconcert most players. Despite the wind, it can scarcely be said that there were any surprises. Kaituna probably' anticipated a win against Green Island, but those who have watched the jplay of the greens during the present season fully anticipated the result — Green Island 137,' Kaituna 98. St. Olair is to be congratulated on a win against the redoubtable Taieri boys. CaTSwell was more than able to hold his own, but M'lntyre and M'Leod had to strike their _ colour* to Hancock and T. Thomson respectively. Three rinks from Clinton visited Gore, and came near winning-, the Gora men having in the aggregate only an advantage of two points. Sheddan smote Adams's team to the tune of 23 to 9, but Cuff went down before Fiehex by 11 to 22. Craig (Gore) defeated Nelson by 25 to 20, the total being Gore 56, Clinton 54. The visitors were entertained to tea, followed by a brief smoke concert. Mataura Club was visited last week by three rinks from the Gore Club, anxious to retrieve the laurels lost some time ago. They found Mataura somewhat weakened by the absence of some prominent players, and the result was a win. for Gore by 28 points. All the Mataura rinks suffered defeat. At the conclusion of the game the Gore men were entertained to an appetising tea. A three-rink match between the Balclutha and Stirling Olubs was played on the Stirling Green on Saturday afternoon. On their own green the Stirling men showed that they will require a lot of beating, and on this occasion they defeated the Balelutha players by 10 points. Gunthorp and Esson tied with 20 points each, H. Little beat P. Greaney by 26 to 18, while H. C. Jones defeated W. Finn. Those who intend to visit Invercargill for the Easier tournament should .bear in mind that the entries close several days ahead. Rinks must, nominate by April 13 and pairs by April 17. I can give no information about the Oamaru tournament, the secretary having failed to supply any particulars.* KAITUNA v. GREEN ISLAND. Th« match between Kaituna and Green Island was played on Saturday afternoon on the fetter's green, and resulted, to the surprise of many, in a decisive victory for the home team. The green was, as usual, in good order, and but for the disturbing influence of a- strong wind, which spoiled to some extent real good play, the margin might have been somewhat different. However, a very good game was, under the circumstances, enjoyed by all taking part in it. The players and. scores are as follow : — > G.I. K. T Campbell, J. Dunlop, A. Falconer, J.
