DUNEDIN CITY MISSION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The twelfth annual meeting of the Dune edin City Mission, held on Feb. 28 in thtf Y.W .C.A. Rooms, was well attended, and ' the heartiness of the proceedings testified to the great interest taken in the work ■by all present. In moving the adoption of the reponf and balance sheet, the Chairman (Mr GrM. -Thomson) said it was always a pleasure to be present at theae annual meeting, as » : the Mission had always been a success, and! ' [ seemed to progress without having to ask f. for money. Those interested supported the Mission, so there was no trouble. Those who gave did so freely, and doubtless found their own thanks and appreciation, in seeing the work progress. The Mission , reached those who hid dropped out of" J touch with the various churches. The hands of the ministers were very full, And the churches wer-* not to blame. In cases' of poverty the Mission brought material help, and to the spiritually poor the com 4 fort of the Gospel. Dunedin was well sup* plied with these workers, who co-operatedr Every call on the Mission had been promptly met. He voiced the feelings of , all when he expressed sympathy with Mrj Torrance in his illness. They rejoicod thatf the Mission had, been successful as regard^ Bible lessons in schools, and Mr D, Wright's work in schools had been unique. The report showed that good, steady worfa had been done, and he had much pleasure in moving its adoption. The Rev. W. Hewitson, 8.A., congratulated the Mission and the committee on the report. He waa struok with the cosmopolitan nature of the work of theiin missionary, who, having been found withf ' all religions and the Salvation Army l,might be found perhaps "on the quiet " among the Theosophists. Cosmopolitan; sympathies were excellent things, and' usually showed that a nwi stood for thai' truth that was in him. The balance sheetf clearly indicated the sympathies of the? people and their confidence in the mis* sionary. He had much pleasure in seconds ing the adoption of the report and balance sheet. Mr R. Gilkison -noved, and the Rev. EV A. Axelsen seconded— " That hcartv thanks be accorded to all who have contributed t(^ the General Fund. Good Samaritan Fundfx and the Children's Special Fund durlni the past 12 months, and all the years ol the Mission."— Carried unanimously. The Rev. W. Griwc moved, and Mr_F.G. Cumming seconded— " That the retiring' committee, and especially the painstaking hon. treasurer (Mr Rosevear), be cordialljij thanked for their past services, and that the following gentlemen be elected for tW" current year: — Messrs John A. D. Adams, E. Aslin. John Barnes, John Blair. Joseph Braithwaite. P. L. Clark, Peter Dick/ Alexander Haig, S. C. Phillips, Georg«, . Reid, Ernest Rosevear, George M. Thom< eon. and James H.
