OTAGO LAND BOARD

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Otago Land Board, held yesterday, was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr D. Barron) and Messrs J. Tough, W. Dallas, J. M. M'Kenzie, <wid G. Livingstone. Semple £52 6s 7d. Ranger Mackenzie forwarded an application from Tihomas E. Bryant for a license to cut mining timber, fencing, and firewood over 10 acres in block I, Dart district, for six months. — License granted; fee £3 10s. Ranger Atkinson reported that James Nicol, lessee of sections- 43 and 4*4, town of Konnako, was not complying with the residence conditions of his lease 213 v.h. — Required to show cause why lease should not be forfeited for non-compliance witli residence condition. Ranger Atkinson reported that Mrs Isabella Webb (formerly Dowell) was not complying with the residence conditions of her lease over sections 31 and 32, town of Komako. — To show cause why ' lease saould not be forfeited for non-compliance with residence condition. Keenan, secretary Tuapeka Mouth Settlement League, wrote asking the board to cut up into town allotments section 170, block I, Waitahuna West district, school < site rererve.— Referred to Otago. Education Board. J. E. Bromley applied- for a license to cut posts aud stringers in Brandy Gully, westerly slope of the Blue Mountains, and Ranger O Aeill forwarded a report.— Declined. An application for an ocupation lease under the Mining Districts Land Occupation Act was received from William Attley, over 10* acres, being section 93, block XIX, Shotover district. — Ranger to report. A complaint was received with reference to the management of Blacks Commonage, which was referred to the commonage licensees for their remarks. The board was requested to fix the upset price for sections 40 and 40a, block XXXIII, town, of Havelock, applied for by Auld and Pink. — To be offered at auction as suburban land at rate of £5 per acre, valuation for improvements, section 40, £205; section 40a, £166. Applications for land on Otekaike Estate under th,e Land for Settlements Act were approved as follows: — Michael Dol-an, section 21a ; William' Thomas, section lla ; David Peevers, section 13a; Mary Fraser, section 19a; C. A. Fraser, section 22a. A letter was read from Samuel Dunlop with, refeience to his application for a part of Clydevale ferry reserve, and asking that he be allowed a larger area than that granted to him. — Area to be increased by about seven acres. man of Clyde Town Trust, complaining that Crown tenants' sheep trespass on portions of Clyde town, and asking the board to enforce the fencing conditions. — Board suggested that the pastoral lessee and Town Trust arrange to erect a joint fence. A letter was read from James A. Roberts asking that the present fenced line between small grazing run, section 2a, block 111, Sutcon district, and the Barewood Run, be made the boundary between the two runs. — ■ Held over pending survet of Barewood Run. John White not having taken the necessary steps to have the transfer of section 55. block VII, Woodland district, from Lilian Carton to himself, completed, the board was j requested to again deal with the matter.— To be informed that unless transfer is completed within a month the board will rescind; consent to transfer. Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by J. S. Fleming to purchase' closed roadline between sections 198, 199, 200, and 183 and 200, block XXV, Tokomairiro district.—Applicant to have sections referred to re-sur-veyed, and on production of a certified plan the board will again consider matter. A letter was read from Donald Reid and Co., as agents for A. P. and E. H. Gibson, intimating that C. A., and W. M. Turnbull have withdrawn from the transfer of sections 1 and 2, block V, Silverpeak district, to them. — Noted. M. Burke applied for a refund of portion, of rent paid on license to occupy sections 16,. 17, block XIV, and 7, block XIII, Pomahaka Downs Estate, the sections having been selected during his term of license. — Refund!, of six months' rent to be made. The case of Hans Peter Friis, who hasbeen called upon to show cause why his occupation lease over section 92a, block V, Tua--peka East district, should not be forfeited for his noncomplianoe with the residence condition, was considered, and the lease was considered forfeited. John Blair applied to surrender his occupation lease over section 93^. block V, Tuapeka East district, and makes an application for an occupation lease over sections 92a and 93, block V, Tuapeka East district, grouped. — Surrender accepted; application for sections 92a and 93 to be advertised and referred to warden. The board was requested to again take into consideration the applications by the executors of the late M. Elliott, H. J. Walles, and A. H.
