SALES OF STUD ROMNEY RAMS FROM THE CASTLEROCK STUD.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co (Ltd.) report the following sales of Romney Marsh rams from the flock of Mr T. L. Barnhill, Castlerock Estate, Lumsden: — Eight stud rams to Mr Holmes Wairen, Turanganui, Featherston, North Island. Included in this shipment is the cnampion three-shear ram at last Invercargill show. This ram has been first in his cla-=s at Invercargill show for three years in succession, and last year he beat 12 stud rams from the leading flocks of the South Island for the championship. He was bred by the vendor, and is a typical Castlerock sheep, showing great constitution- His sire, also, in his day was champion at Ivercargill show three years in succession. The purchase price was 50gs. To an Argentine client, 10 shearlirg stud rams. This was an especially fine shipment, all being selected as typical New Zealand Rconneys. It is the intention of the buyer \o bring these sheep into direct competition with the Romneys imported from England to the Argentine, with a view to show the general all-round excellence of New Zealandbied Romneys. The price paid was most satisfactory. To Messrs Holmes and Son, of Tiraumea, North Island, 40 flock shearing rams, also at a satisfaoory price.
