DUNEDIN WOOL SALES.

The fourth and final wool 6ale of the Season was held in the Victoria Hall on the sth instant. Seven firme-^had lots on offer, and the order of selling and quantities offered were as follow : — Stronach, Morris, and Co., 113 bales; Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association, 322; Donald Reid and Co., 274; Dalgety and Co., 471; Wright, Stepheneon, and Co.. 318; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, 162; and National Mortgage and Company, 80. ■was held to-day, when 1763 bales were offered, to this total we contributed 471 bales. The attendance of buyers, though not so large as at our last sale in February, was a represen- , tative one, and competition for medium merino and inferior crossbred wools was keener, but on the other hand prices Kd tor good and medium halfbreds were not up to la re rates. Pieces, bellies, and locks were well competed for, and bids made showed no change o^ February prices. We offered one line of veil-grown, bright, sound comeback, bred by Mr U-. F. B. Poynter, of Pomahaka, which realised ll|d, and topped the prices for the day. Another wool to cell well was Messrs Aitken Bros.', of Wendon Valley, 14 bales of good quality light-conditioned meriro , bringing 9Jd; 6 bales of the TB brand bs- ' longing tp the same owners realised the satisfactory price of 9£d. Wright, Stephenson, aud Co. report as follows : — We held our fourth and lasrt sale of the 1907-08 series in the Agricultural Hall Buildings on Thursday, sth inst., when we offered a catalogue of 318 bales of wool to a lepre&entative gathering of bujers. Good competition was extended to all classes of wool, and prices, taken all round, may be quoted on a. par with values ruling at the February auction. Although we have no quotations of special interest, we are pleased to report that we practically cleaied our catalogue at satisfactory figures. The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand reports the sale of the following lots: — G4, 12 bales half bred ewe 9d, 6 halfbied wether Bid, 2 seedy ewe sd; Cl) over Wa&hdyke, 2 bales nierino wether 9d; ET, 2 bales crossbred and halfbied 7£d; N, 2 bales crossbred 7Jd ; BW, 2 bales cio&sbred ewe 6Jd; MX (conjoined), 1 bale merino ewe 7id; CA, 2 ba^es halfbred black Bid; • 5, 1 bale merino ewe 9d, T. crossbred ewe 62d. Stronach, Morris, and Co. (Ltd.) report having held their fourth sale ot the season on Thursday, March 5, when they submitted a catalogue comprising 113 biles. These were principally odd lots, and there was nothing of special merit forward. They had. however, some scoured wcol, which Hold very well, the first halbred bringing laid; second halfbred. 13d; crossbred, 11 Jd; and halfbred (part locks;, lljd. In greasy their top prices were Bfd for halfbred, BJd for nierino, and 7J-.1 for crossbred. Donald Reid and Co. (Ltd.) report:— We held our fourth and final fixed eale of the season at the Agricultural Hall on Thursday. Considering the small quantity of wool "offered there w»s a larg-er attand-ance of buyers than is usual at this fixture. Our catalogue comprised 235 bales, marie up chiefly of pa-ssed! in lots front the previous sale and late arrivals of the season. Bidding waa somewhat irregular, but for most classes of wool j was quite up to expectations. The exception proved to be chiefly medium halfbred, for which competition did not reach late values, j For low crossbred and medium merino there . was improved demand, and all lots of these ' classes were disposed of at prices equal to, and j in some oases slightly a.b*ad of, tho&e ruling at last tale.
