Young ■George, who had just been engaged at the village rectory, was told by the vicar not to do any work upon Sundays, only what was really necessary. Of course, the pony must be looked after, the pigs fed, and the- cow milked. On the first Sabbath in hiß new pl»p« George, who had a long distance to go to milk the cow, emptied the contents of' the milfpaJ into the pigs' trough. , At the tea table long faces were pulled at tho colour of the tea- The minister jojs in a rage, and demanded of George vrmf he had not milked the cow. "I have, sir," was the reply. ''Well, where fe the milk?" Georgie put on his Sunday face, *no calmly said: "I didn't like carrying it so far on, a Sunday, so I give it to the pigs." * The minister was thunderstruck,^ and 'as _ he entered the mansion door after ttoo? went bang I bang ! and the whole family Md no hesitation whatever in saying tßat George was too good* to last very long" there.
