THE CORONER ON DRINK.

WELLINGTON, January 6. In the course of his summing up at the inquest on M'Nally, the Coroner (Mr Ashoroft) said : " I must say that this is one more of the" many ' jmhappy cases arising - directly or indirectly through drink. Fully 60 per cent. of. the cases which come before jne are more or less "connected with drink. After thinking over the matter I am sometimes almost persuaded to become a prohibitionist. It is so very sad when one thinks o£ the large number of cases m which drink leads to suicide or crime. jNo warning seems to have any effect."
