The annual tournament of the Otago Golf Club was continued yesterday on Balmacewen Jjiukst In the morning, when H& second!

The detraction, howeveT, was not sufficient to materially interfere -with the play of several of the competitors, as some of the cards handed in ■showed a score whicti would have been creditable under the most favourable conditions. Both A. F. Roberts and F. L. Biss did the 18 holes in 83, whilst H. C. Smith and B. J. Smith did the round in 86 and 87 respectively. The Cixajnpionship is decided on an aggregate of fooir rounds, during eacsh of wh.ch a handicap event is also played 1 . The annual Championship, tournament of the Otago Golf Club waa continued on the Ist and 2nd of January, A rather light south-west wind prevailed on Wednesday, but it was not sufficiently strong to affect the play. Roberts was again in good form, and his card showed 82 for the round. G. H. MacEwan showed some of his old form, with a. score of 82. W. W. Hyslop, who hails from the Home Country, was credited with 83; while the brothers H. C. and B. J. Smith were consistent with 85 and 88 respectively — their exact scores in the first round.

In the afternoon, when the third round of the championship was played, A. F. Roberts fell away somewhat, and it took him 88 strokes fpr the round; while H. 0. Smith, with 83, drew level with Roberts in the aggregate; B. J. Smith, with 82, being a. stroke behind the leading men. The weather conditions on the 2nd for the fourth round of the championship were none too good. A strong southerly wind was blowing, and this militated against good play.

to all holes coming up against the wind. Hamilton Smith and A. F. Roberts started off the round with scores all even, and Basil Smith one stroke behind. The conditions were favourable to H.
