CUSTOMS RETIfKNS. | The following are the Customs returns for Dunedin for December: — Duty on goods cleared for consumption,. £35;229 18s lOd; on beer, £3838 10s Id. The gold exported during the month was "14,6250z, and - its value £59,750. For December, 1906, the duty paid on goods was £34,693 19s lid, the duty on beer £3547 18s 7d, and -there were 74690z of goW exported, valued at £30,076. From the foregoing figures it will be seen that there is an increase of £536 on goods and £291 on beer; while the gold export has increased by 71565z. The figures for the l?st quarter of 1907 are:— Goods £100,605 13s 3d, beer £9479 0s lid, gold exported 18,2910z, valued at £74,416. Por the corresponding quarter of 1906 the figures were:— Goods £108,576 ss, beer £9167 5s Bd, gold exported 38,5090z, valued at £155,627. The totals for the year just expired are:— Goods £451,211 8s 9d, beer £32,848 6s 9d, gold exported 95,0730z, valued at £385,967. The totals for 1906 were: — Goods £435,499 6s 9d, beer £31,353 3s lOd, gold exported 157,3710z, valued at £636,018. AUCKLAND, January 3. The year just ended proves to have been a highly prosperous one for the Customs Department. The total revenue (including gold duty and other receipts, except beer) collected for the year 1907 was £831 710 2s 4d, against £758,066 13s 2d for 1906— an. increase of £73,644. The beer duty was £25,485 Os 6d for the year — that of 1906 heving been • £21,635 16s lOd. This year's totals thus exceed " the amount collected at Wellington (£823 694) by £8016. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 1. The Customs receipts- for- 1907 were £41,052, an increase of £7900 over 1906. The imports were valued at £118,778, and the exports from New Plymouth £626,406, those from Waitara being £289,361. NAPIER, January 1. The Customs duties collected for the past month show a substantial increase over the same month last year, the figures beine —1906, £8415 4s 3d; 1907, £8910 3s 3d. The beer duty for the same month was £465 19s lOd and £523 14s 5d respectively, the last-named figures being, a record for one month. The- Customs duties, collected over the whole year 1906 amounted to £96,299 12s 3d, and for 1907 to £104,486 le Id, and the beer duty for the same periods £3852 15s and £4425 12s lid respectively. The official figures of the Customs-returns-for the port of Wellington show that during 1907 the revenue was £823,694 10s lid, -a.nd • beer duty for the same period was £14,273 16s 2d, as -against £760,604 12s 3d and £11,855 lls 9d respectively in 1906. For the quarter ending December last the " Customs returns -was £187,734 4s 7d, and the beer duty £4218 8s 2a. The'eum for the corresponding time of 1906 was' £185,585 15s 4d -and - £3371 -Is 9d respectively. The Customs collection "for the past month was £59,926 3s 7d, and the beer duty £1631 12s lid.
