ECLIPSE OF THE SUN.
AUCKI/AND, December 10. The expedition which leave* on Thursday by the Taviuni for Tahiti and Flint Island to observe the eclipse of the son on January 3' next consists of Mr P. XM'Lean, F.R.A.B:, of Turihridge Wells (England), Mr- Joseph Brooks, F.R.A.S:, , F.R.G.S., Mr W. E. Raymond, F.R.A.S., and Mr J. W. 1 Short (all from Sydney), Mr, H. Wickeboan and the Tier. P. W. Walker (of "Auckland). Mr C H. Mer« field (of Sydney) accompanies the expedition to Flint Island, where he will join the 1 expedition sent out by the Lick Observatory: under Professor Campbell.
