Prize winners in the Sections.

On May 8 a series of interesting competitions extending over three months was announced by the management of the Otago Witness. It was originally intended to have four sections as follows : — Weekly competitions for farmers and others, by " Agricola "; weekly competitions for ladies, by "Emmeline"; weekly competitions for Dot's Little Folk, by "Dot"; weekly competitions for the general public, by " Korker."

To give zest to the pleasant and varied amusement for the long winter evenings it was intended to pro\ide by these competitions, prizes aggregating £10 were offered for division among the four sections, thus providing a prize of £2 10s for the winner of the largest number of event* in a particular section. The idea was warmly taken up by subscribers and readers in three out of the four sections. Unfortunately the competitions for the general public received such scant support that it was decided to discontinue them. A perusal of the replies received from the small band of competitors proved that no competitor had 6ent in the correct replies to the questions which had been published, and it was therefore decided to devote the money allotted to " Korker's" section to giving a consolation prize in each of the other three sections. Below will be found the winners in the competitions conducted by "Agricola," "Emmeline." and "Dot":
