SOUTH CANTERBURY.
Some really good duck shooting in to 1 i had in the South Canterbury district, on the northern side of the Waitaki River, at Studholme's Lagoon and near the Waiho. On a wet. drizzling, rainy day on thi-> clas-. of lagoon the best shooting is to be had. as the ducks fl\ low and come within range. At tlv bick of Timaru in the Mickenzie Country, some good duck •hooting is to bo had what is known a-s the " P-lack Foro-t " being a fa\ourite r«~ort of gun sport-men. Ilarts are also numerous m this part of the countr> Paradif«e ducks are verj numerous -so plentiful, indeed, that two sportsmen who were shooting in tho locality a few \ears ago ~hot only male hirdn and left the ducks alone.
