DESTRUCTION OF FRUIT.

AUCKLAND, December 12. The officers of the Agricultural Department are particularly active in the inspection of fruit, to prevent the introduction of dangerous pest*. Early this week a consignment of 100 cases of apricots, plums, and oranges" from Sydney were found all more or less affected by the Mediterranean fnrit fly. Yesterday a quantity of bananas from' Fiji, which were being badly eaten, were also condemned. WELLINGTON, December 12. The Maheno brought to Wellington 3000 oases of fruit from "Sydney, but 120 cases were badly infected with the fly maggot, and were cent to the destructor. The Sydney Sunday Times, replying- to a correspondent, stetee:— "We believe absolutely in the kerosene remedy for fruit fly, and if all " fruitgrowers would persevere in its use they would beat these little peste handsomely. The - fly commits suicide readily enough if it can get at the kerosene."

The meat received into Smithfield market every year for the feeding of London exceeds 403,000 tons. Mr T,- R. Davis, Truro, S.A., writes:— "Some months ago I had a very severe attack of diarrhoea. Knowing that Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera, and Diarrhoea Remedy had effected a cure in many similar cases I decided to see what it would do for me, and am pleased to say it checked the attack. I can confidently recommend Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera, and Diarrhoea Remedy to anyone suffering from the same, complaint." For sale everywhere*
