MR ALLAN M'LEAN'S BEQUESTS. LARGE SUMS LEFT TO RELATIVES. The ,late Mr Allan M'Lean, of Christchurch"; left largo sums of money to several of his relatives— notably his nieces. The' following are some of the bequests provided for in his will:— To his niece, Mrs May Elizabeth Gee, wife of Mr G. F. Gee, manager of the National Bank, Wellington, £100,000. To his other - nieces, Mrs Ruby M. Rolleston, wife of Mr A. C. Rolleston, of Ohristchurch, and Fannie Kay, £50,000 eaoh. These bequests are placed in trust. Both may~ fall back into the estate in certain circumstances set forth. To Mr W. F. M. Buckley, Mr M'Lean s nephew, £50,000, to be held in trust by Messrs A. C. Rolleston and St. John M. Buckley. After Mr W. F. M. Buckleys .death the sum of £10,000 will be held m trust for his wife as long as she remains a widow. . , In all these cases provision is made for the children of the marriages, and if there are no children who reach the age of / 21 years the money goes back to the estate. To the daughter of Mr Edward Richardson, jun., insurance agent, of Christchurch, by his late wife, £1000, to be held in trust. If she does not reach the age of 21 the sum will go to the daughters of Mr Edward Richardson, sen., of Wellington. To Miss Mary Alexandra Henderson, of Christchurch, £5000 in trust, In certain circumstances half of that sum will go to Mrs T. Morrow, oF Christchurch, on the death of Miss Henderson. - To Mrs Phillips. Mr M'Lean's housekeeper, the sum of £3000 a year is left, with the right of occupancy at the Hotly Lea property, in Manchester street, which will be the building for the M'Lean Institute. That sum will be paid to her as long as she is a widow, but . if she marries again th« annuity will be reduced to £500. Mrs Phillips is not allowed to dispose of her right to ocoupy the property, but provision is made by which she can arrange with the Board of Governors to relinquish the ocoupancy. •^ To Mr George, M'Lean, of Waikakahi, £100 a year is left. The following sums have bnen bequealhod to the women servants in Mr M'Lean'a service at tho time of his death : — To those who have been in his service for five years or more, £50 for each year of service; to those who have been in the service for less than five years, £30 for every year of service; to those who have been in the service for one year or less, £30. To Frederick Collins, an employee, at Holly Lea, £100 is given. Articles of jewellery are given to several relatives. In a codicil Mr Gee is apnointed a trustee, and is s;iven £1000. and the sum of £20.000 is left to each of his daughters in trust. The original executors arc Mr O. M'Lean, of Wajkakahi, Mr H. Cotterill and Mr. B. M. Molvneaux. of Christchurch, and each will receive £1000 as an acknowledgment of their trouble. The will is dated July 20, 1904, and the codicil November 23, 1906. The residue of the estate, as announced previou«lv. will fc* givpn up to the maintenance of the M'Lean Institute for Gentlewomen. The mutton-birding season, which commences in Maroh, promises to be a suocessful one, according to the Natives. At present large numbers of birds are to be seen flying near the south coastline. — Western Star.
