Sjteh well-known performers as Gold Crest, llarguerite, and Elevation have declined their Manawatu Cup engagements, and may not be seen out until the Wellington Cup rolls around. Nominations for the Wellington meeting are due on Monday. Moral, one of the best handicap horses ■seen out at recent meetings, is evidently feeling the effects of the severe races he had at the Carterton, Feilding, and Wood- i ville meetings. His name is missing from , the Manawatu acceptances, and does not ; appear in the entry list either at Wairarapa j or Rangitikei at New Year time. .; E. Cutts, the veteran Ricoarten trainer, •who has recently been laid up with a severe attack of influenza, is nearly all right again. He went through to Palmerston this morning with Stratagem, De Witte, and -Sister With C. Jenkins, A. Oliver, and J. Pine j under suspension, and J. M'Combe and J. i M'Clusky laid up through accidents, owners J will have some difficulty in getting horse- ; men during the holiday meetings. W. Ryan , and R. Hatch have recently been riding for . J.
