WAIKOIKOI.
December 14.— Abundant rains w±th ■warmth ha* brought on the crops very fast, and on all farms they now form a pleasing picture. The prospect of » good harvest is V«T promising, and; provided the weather does not come too dry later on, abundant crops of all kinds are .aefcured. Grass is plentiful, and stock of all kinds look well. The chief work on hand just now is turnip■owing and shearing at the large sheds. Despite ,the slump in wool the total gams by the sale of this commodity should about equal those of last year, as the fleeces-, so I «m told, are much heavier than those of Sickness.— That dreaded complaint, influenza, still hovers over our district, and #very now and again one hears of someone roe laid up with it. Those who have had oamaot get rid of "that tired feeling ' that accompaoiies" this coanplaiwt. To-day one feels all right, and to-morrow, all wrong. Such, at any rate, is the experience of many, the writer amongst the number. I am pleased to cay that Mr R. Simmers, who has been laid up for some time with inilttenza and pneumonia, is now on a fair ■way to complete recovery. It will be some time- yet before he ie himself again, but we anticipate seeing him visiting his cronies before 4he summer is out. Mr A. M. Simmsxa, too, is mending, and is now abie to j to about. Mis Alexander Reid, .too,' has laen on the sick list for some time — infioenza again,— but lam glad to say that ■he is on the right road to convalescence Aow, and we hops to see her about again «x» lomg. There have been two deaths— ib» W. Y. Cunningham, who passed away wt the age of 79 years, and Mrs William Bremner, who had been bedridden for three rears. She had reached the age of 76. Cricket. — Our club is again to the fore. -Two matches have been played— one with Xknevale amd one with Tapanui,— both of tofrich were won by our boys. Church Affairs.— ln good weather our church attendance is good, but in wet -Weather such is not the case, as many have a, long way to come. On the whole, however, the majority of the congregation attend very regularly, which, must be very gratifying to our minister, the Rev. «. Waugh. The church grounds are in good <rdSr, and dur pretty little church is quite in ornament to the township. To fill the vacancies en the Management Committee Messrs William Lavender and John M'Coll ■were elected. As thesa introduce "new Wood" into the committee, they must look *o their laurels. The old hands— past «nd present— will be hard to beat. The choir lias a- full roll numher, and a vast improvement is noticeable in the singing. ! The BshooL— The examination took place ' on the 27th and 28th November, and the results obtained are highly satisfactory to •11 concerned. - I
