Sir Robert Stout stated that the examination for matriculation applies to the Wellington candidates only. The scholarship examinations, which concern about 100 candidates, must* be reheld all over the Dominion, as all the candidates must have the same papers set them. The fact that the- examiners and the candidates are in all parts of the Dominion, added to the time required for preparing the papers, etc., renders it practically impossible to hofd the examinations before Christmas time.
