WELLINGTON, December ♦.

The acquisition of the patent slip by the Union Company was affected by the purchase of a portion of the shares. The Harbour Board intended to acquire it if the negotiations with the Ow Company failed, and the chairman complains that the transaction has' been carried out behind their backs, and is against the spirit of what was intended when the Provincial Gave m men t gave their assent to the construction.
