The fifteenth annual show under the auspices of the Central Otago A. and P Association waa held in the show grounds at Omakau on Friday in delightfully fine weataer. The attendance of the public was the largest for a number of years past, and there were people present from all parts of Central Otago. A special train from Clyde was run in connection with the show, and, notwithstanding the short notice given, the special was well patronised, close on 250 passengers being conveyed over this section of the railway, the bulk of^ the people oom ing from Alexandra. Much diesatisfaction was expressed on all sides at the inadequate supply of carriages placed at the di^Tjosal of the passengers, and the fact that only the ordinary number of carriages used in connection with the usual passenger train were available indicates that no provision was made for the comfort and convenience of the passengers. It was regrettable to see women and children standing throughout the journey. -The Railway Deportment was notified of the special fully a fortnight beforehand, whilst _ the required deposit was paid by the association On the 7th inst. It is hoped that on the next occasion on which a special is run over this line the department will make ample provision for coping with the "crush," for such it was on Friday. Although the total number of entries compared with last year's showed a falling off, the show, considering the backward state of the exhibits and tho long-continued drought, was a pronounced success. The reappearance of such a popular exhibitor as Mr John Wilson, of Downshire Farm, Lauder, was hailed with, much satisfaction by both officials and public, and his success in easily annexing the silver cup for most points in light and draught horses, cattle, and sheep was the subject of much congratulation from all sides. Other large and successful exhibitors were Messrs Laidlaw and Crawford (of Station) and Mrs M. Naylor (Chesterman's Farm, Matakanui), whilst absentees such as Ida Valley Station and Mr R. Jopp (Moutere Station) were much mi.s9p<l. The judging was gone through with commendable promptitude, and all the officials worked zealously for the success of the exhibition. Competition in sundries and dairy produce was keener than in previous year.*, and the entries in these classes were numerous.
The judges all carried out their onerous duties in a praiseworthy manner, and their decisions met with approval. To the genial president (Mr It. Wikon) and the energetic secretary (Mr T. Duggan) is due a special word of praise for the energy displayed in their respective position*. Following 1 is the .prize Kit:— «
