Notes from Reefton. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

REEFTON, November 16.

The manager of the Big River mine reports^ that driving in No. 9 level south has been continued, and now totals 105 ft from the point where the crosscut intersects the reef. During the week the reef varied from lft to 3ft wide. Driving in the noith end of the level has been discontinued fox the present. The level- on the reef going into the banging wall of the main level is now extended 17ft from the side of the level. There is an average of 10ft of solid stone in the face. Fiity-five tons were broken for tho week, and the quality of the same is good. The battery started crushing two shifts on Wednesday.
