DEPUTATION TO THE GOVERNMENT.

LONDON, July 22.

The Arohbishop of Canterbury and several bishops have interviewed the Government, asking for the withdrawal of .certain regulations dealing with training colleges, and secondary schools on the ground that the new rules will destroy the present religious character of the establishments. Mr M'Kenna (President of the Board of Edncation) replied that he was determined that students .would not be rejected on the ground of their religious belief. .Sir H. Campbell-Bannexman said that because the Government's great attempt to -effect a conciliation had, failed last year that -was no Teason why they should abandon, their principles.
