CLAIM FOR PAYMENT FOR HOLIDAYS.
CHRISTGHURCH, July 18. Proceedings *rere taken by the inspector 5 of a-warda against the Christchurch Press Company, Us© Lyttelton Times Company, and Whitcombe and Tombs (Ltd.) to obtain an enforcement of an award and agreement, which were alleged to provide that employees in the printing trade in Christchurch should be- paid for certain holidays. Evidence was called to show that holidays had never before been paid for by master, printers in Christchurch. Counsel for the respondents stated that if the application was jrraTited i( would moan a difference to the three firms of about £150 a year, and if back pfy w-eie awarded it would amount to between £7000 and £8000.
