ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, July 3.

At the Addington live stock market to-day there were moderate entries of stock and a large attendance. Store sheep were rather dull of sale in consequence of the shortage of feed, and fat lambs and fat sheep sold well, the latter showing a decided rise. Pigs were in good demand, especially stores, and there was an improved demand for dairy cows; but store cattle were unsaleable. There was a small mixed yarding of store sheep.and prices were somewhat easier, competition being slow. The principal lots sold were: Ewes, 127 sound mouth at 12s lid, 59 at 12s 9d, 52 at 12s 6d; 227 aged at 8s lOd, 102 at 5s 2d, and smaller lots at 9s lOd to 11b 3d. Hoggets: 55 at 123 Bd. 45 at 11s lOd, 86 at lls 9d, 73 at 11s 9d. 72 at 11s sd, 87 at lls Bd. Wethers: 401 sold at 17s Id, 84 at 14s lOd, 52 at 15s lOd, 81 at 14s 6d. There was small yarding of lambs, made up mostly of unfinished lots. Anything at nil prime sold a little better than the previous week's rates, and otbei sorts were without change.. Prime lambs made 15s to 19s 6d, and lighter, lls to 14s 6d. There was a fairly large yarding of fat she«p. including some prime lines of ewes and wethers. The inevitable rise in prices consequent upon the falling off in supplies manifested itself, all classes selling at Is to Is 6d per head better than of late. There was a good clearance, the demand keeping up till the close of the sale. The range of prices was : Extra prime wethers, 27s 6d to 31s; prime, 21s to 26s 6d; lighter, 16s lid to 20s 6d; prime ewe 3, 19s to 235 ; medium, 15s to 18s 6d ; aged, 12s to 14s 6d , prime merino wethers, 16s 6d to 19s 9d. The suppy of \^?i totalled 301 head, and included some prime lines of station cattle. There was a gor;d sa'e at late rates. Steers brought £6 103 to £11 15s; heifers, £6 10s to £8; and cows, £4 12s to £8 17s 6d, equal to 22s 6d to 25s for prime, and 20s to 22s for medium, per 1001b. A good yarding of veal calves sold at 7s 6d to 60s. There was a poor entry of store cattle, and the only animals saleable were old cows for potting. Dairy cows sold fairly well, good sorts making £6 to £8; extra, to £10 2s 6d; and others, £2 10s to £6 10a. There was a fair entry of pigs, including a large line stores from South Canterbury. Baconers sold at an advance on last week's prices, while porkers were easier, and stores were in keen demand. Specially well-grown sorts : Baconers made 45s to 665, and up to 66a for heavyweights (equal to 4|d to 5d per lb); porkers 32s to 40s (equal to 5d to 5Jd per lb) ; terge stores, 25s to 82s; medium, 14s to 20a; and weaners, 10s to 12s 6d.
