Competition was brisk throughout our entire auction, and last sale's rates were well maintained. Bidding was brisk up to rate? ruling a fortnight ago. Our top price for ox was 7fcd and for cow hidc3 ojd. which works cut at 40s 4d for the fcrmer and 34s 6d for the lattar as tbo value per hide. Tlip .range of values per lb was much as ruled at la=t sales, exceut that the competition for yearlings was rather keener, and this niay b2 <=aid aJso of calfsHns, the former felling at 5Jd while the latter made from 2s to 4s 6d each. Best ox kides from 46 b upwards rule from 5Jd to 7id per lb, while best cow, from 321b upwards, rule from 5Jd to 5Jd. There was an average attendance of buyers, and. competition all rctmd was gocd. compared with last sale. Prices for extr» stout ox were, a shade' higher, and others quite up to those then ruling. We were fortunate in obtaining. 7Jd for one ox hide weighing 701b, and 7Jd for one weighing 71tt>. These prices^ consider- - _ ing the state of the Australian markets, must be considered very satisfactory. Our top price for cow bides was ssd, which was paid ~ for several lines.
