BRITISH ART COLLECTION.
SALES EXCEED £15,000. (Frosi Oub Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, June 10. Mr A. A. Longden, who is returning to England, is very well satisfied with tho sales of pictures at the Exhibition. The sales have exceeded £15.000, or more than double the- figure recorded at the St. Louis Exhibition. Mr Longrien save the people of New Zealand have learned to appreciate pictures since the Britioh collection came to this country, and this will benefit local a.-tists. To support thi6 statement Ec menthat the sales at the Canerbury Art Society's present annual show are more numerous than usual, and the prices have improved.
