YOUNG NEWS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.
The monthly muring of tho Board of Management was held on the 17th inst. : present -Rev. W. Curzon-Siggei" (m tho chair). Me.«rs H. Webb. A. J. C. Brown, N. Pat-erson. H. K. Wilkinson. G. W. Gibson. G. Moreton. J. C. Loan. A. Irvine, N. Slvfield. D. Leslie, C. W. Haine*. Captain Strang. and the secretary. Apologies wore leeched from Messrs G. M. Thomfoii, G. C. Armour. G. R. Hercus E. S. Mirams, and Dr Riley. The monthly rejiorts were received from the \arious committees. Mr Gco. Moreton reported on behalf of the Membership Committee. Mr A. Irvine reported that satisfactory work had been done in each division of the religious work. The aggressive work and the foreign work meetings had Ixeri tiic most successful fot the month. Mr G. V. Aimour retried on the frtrane-ors' Sunday tea. Mr J-imr-s Rider ropoi'od on the physical work, vvhuh show*-'! piocrreshive signs for tlie month. Mr Join Loan, chairman of the junior department, reported on the work for bov<=. This club had fallen off somewhat, but siner- last report fiesh interest had grown amongst the bnv.s. and as a remit new members weio being enlisted.
The Povi 1 Residential Home continue to fulfil its object to tho full capacity of the building now occupied, and the convener (Mr N. Paterson) reported that the committee had in hand the problem of extension. Mr A. J. C. Brown reported on the finances of the association, and a number of accounts were passed /or payment. The visit of Lieuienant-oolonel Charle* Fermand. of Geneva, Switzerland, was discussed, and it was arranged that the public reception be given at the Town Hall on Friday. 21st Juno. Mr Fermand i<s secretary of the World's Committee o< Y.M.C.A.'s. Tt was decided to notify al! membprs of his visit and meeting-? by advertisement in the daily press. The following donations were reported by the Treasurer :- Mn M. Ritchie and Messrs PaterFon and Barr. £2 2s each ; Mill. E. Wilson, £1 10s: Mr J. B. Wafers. £1 Is; Mr J. Adorn, Sympathiser, and Mr J. 11. Milligan, £1 each.
Signor Paolo Tosti, the composer, reeontlv became naturalised as an Englishman, and 19 now surprised to find that when a man assumes a new nationality he at the same time loses his former one. Only lately Signor Tosti was informed officially by the Italian Embassy that he had lost his Italian nationality, and now he regrets having taken the step, because he intends shortly to settle in Italy aeaio
