T. G. D. writes to say that several of his cows have slipped their calves. The cows were in fair condition, and were well fed on turnips «nd stTaw. In each case the calf had been carried just six months. Probably our correspondent neglected to remove the cows from the herd when they aborted, which ought to be done in every case, as it seems contagious. Treatment must be unsatisfactory unless the cause is ascertained. Some practitioners recommend carbolic acid, but this should always be in the. hands of a qualified veterinary surgeon. Waggonkh. — Remove the cause of contagion of lice on your horse. Wash, the animal with a sheep dip according to the directions on the package. Whitewash the stable, and observe cleanliness everywhere about it.
