CIIRISTCHURCH, June 12.

The certificates won by the successful candidates in the home industries competitions at the late Exhibition will be issued on Saturday. The medals are not yot ready. In reference to the delay in the judging of the original stories, Mr Minson informed a Truth reporter that the manuscript* which were previously reported to be missing have now been, recovered in the office of Dr Fitchett, of Melbourne, who was appointed to judge them. In the meantime Dr Fitchett has gone on a visit to Europe, consequently a new judge had to be appointed— this time a New Zealand authority. Tho bundle ie expected back from Australia daily now, and as soon as it turns up Mr Minson will see that the judging is proceeded with without further delay. The principal event in the Exhibition Ground to-day was the rolling up of the great picture representing the famous battle of Gettysburg. The probability is that tho picture, will be taken back to Australia. This step is dictated by the heavy duty which will have to be paid it it remaine in Chrietchurch. It comes through the Customs Department under tho heading of "Pictures paintings, drawings, engravings, and photographs, and bears a duty of ?0 per cent. All the time it has been in Christchurch, however it has been in bond, and the duty haa not been exacted.
