THE TEAM JFOR AUSTRALIA. LONDON, June 15. The National Rifle Association ha 3 selected the following shooting team to visit Australia: — Colonel Hopeton (commandant), Colonel Barlow (staff officer), Major Richardson (shooting captain), Langford Lloyd (adjutant), Colonel Cowan (Royal Engineers), Lieutenants Parnell, Peddie (naval warrant officer), and Raven, Sergeant - miijor Wallingford, Quartermaster-sergeants Kobinson, Fraser, and Armour, Sergeants Comber, Lawrance, (both King's Prize winners). Martin, Mahaffey, Patterson, and Tatlow, and Lance-corporal Fulton. The team will travel via Canada, competing for the Palma Trophy.

WELLINGTON, June 17. Colonel Collins givee some particulars of the British rifle team that is to visit Australia. Armourer Sergeant-major Wallingford wa3 the champion shot of fcho British army, and Armourer Sergeanta Comber and Lawrence had long been prominent. Comber won tho King's prize in 1905, and he has been six times in the final stage of the competition for that coveted honour. Lawrence has a.n even better record, for he has been in lha final stage 13 times. He belongs to the First Dumbartons. Lieutenant Peddie is a. new shot. He came to the front in. 1904, when he was in the final stage of tho King's prize. Lieutenant Pannell is another young shot, and he has been four times in the King's prize final. Colonels Hopton and Barlow and Major Richardson "are all members of the council which controls the Bislev championship meeting, and Major Richardson is an old volunteer. A New Zealand team will be sent to Australia to compete against the British and Australian marksmen.

An enormous number of sharks and stinpfaree infest the Sounds at thie season of the year (saye the Pelorus Guardian), and render net-fishing very hazardous.. On a recent morning a local fisherman hauled in the nets he had set overnight. His catch wa^ a dozen flounders, and the holes in the nets will cost about £7 tQ repaid
