THE MELBOURNE MURDER

IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

MELBOURNE, June 11. After Mr Bauer, the diamond merchant, was murdered, Mr Cutler, a jeweller, of Little Collins street, informed the police that a man had called at his shop and inquired Mr Bauer's address a .few days before. The description corresponded with that of a well-known Victorian criminal. Suspicion points to the belief that the fugitive has gone Sydney. This idea fits in with the story that a man was seen to leave the building in a violent hurry a few minutes after 5. He haikd a cab, telling the driver to drive fast to Spencer street. The Sydney express left at 5.5 p.m. ' June 12. The Government offers £500 reward for the conviction of Bauer's murderer.
