F. \V. Onglcr. Oaniaru, wrote asking for the consent of the board to the transfer of lea*c of section 2 of 67, block 11, Oamaru disiriet. from P. Kano to B. Brenuan. — Consented to on usual terms.
Donald Reid, solicitor, wrote on behalf of Mrs Jane Brown asking that section 58, block IX, Strath-Taieri, be offered for lease in one lot, or, if subdivided, that the lots fhould be burdcyied with full valuation for improvements in her fa\our.— Land to . bo offered in three lots, as recommended by fcho Land Board.
John Play. W. A. Steele, and W. West, Strath-Taieri, applied to have the sections in block X, Arden township, offered for lease in three lota for a term of- 14 -years. — Land to bo offered as applied- for. Accounts amounting to £567 44s 4d were passed for payment.
Tt Is said to bo tho intention of the Goi ernment to discontinue in future as far as possible the emplo3'm-ent_ of., temporary clerks, and in connection with appointments of cadets to give preference to those who have passed the junior civil service examination.
