PARTIAL SETTLEMENT.
(Fsoit Ora Own Coeeesponden7 )
WELLINGTON, February 18. The Gear Meat Company capitulated today, and its men went to work again at the advanced rate of 23a per hundred. The strike at the Wellington Meat Company's works continue. This afternoon the Government was appealed to, and the suggestion was mado j that it should endeavour to get butchers to take tha placeß of those men who have left the company's Ngahauranga woiks. The ! directors of the Meat Export Company, in their interview with the Minister, were supported by representatives of various employers' associations in the city. The proceedings were not open to the press, but I understand that the Minister promised to bring before the Cabinet the suggestion that the Government should endeavour to find sufficient slaughtermen to allow the company to proceed with its export business
