THE PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS.
There was a large attendance at the even* ing sitting. The Rev- W. Heighway pre» sided for the devotional part of the meet* ' ing, whilst the Rev. Mr Grant read at passage of Scripture and led the congrega* tion in prayer. A strong and efficient choir led the singing, which was vigorous and tuneful. They also very acceptably sang an anthem whilst the offertory wa(i being received. Mr D. Cooke presided, atl t.he orsran. The Rev. William Day, of Mount Edeifc (Auckland), delivered his -presidential *d% dress. His subject was " The Two Sides, of the Church's Life." There is, he said", its Godward side and its man ward side*. These are intimately related.; they act ancl react upon each other— nay. in truth, they are one ; — for all true fellowship with Godj is fellowship with man, and all true unionj with man is union with God. Realise fche> Fatherhood and you realise the- brotherhood! Be man's true brother and you know your* i self God's son. In concluding an able ad« dress, Mr Day said his profound conviction Was that tho Church of the future will be in vital union with God and with men; with God, as the centre of its life ; and then with men — as the circumference — the point of contact with the life and need of its day First communion, then commission.
