DUNEDIN AMATEUR ATHLETIC SPORTS,
The twenty-second annual meeting of th» Dunedin Amateur AJhletic Club at -the Caledonian Grounds on Saturday afternoon was well attended, and proved in all respects a> popular function. A drizzling Tain fell during the morning and in the early part of tho afternoon, but cleaied up in time for the races, which were run under favourable conditions. There was a record number of entries, and the fields were in keeping with. tho entries. The races were all run in good time. The one department of the meeting where a.n improvement could with advantage have been effected was the handicapping. The limits were made far too large, particularly in the athletic and the walking events. In several instances the scratch men were a-sked to concede so much that it simply meant that they had to go very near breaking the record to have any chance of winning. The following are the results: — 120 yds FLAT MAIDEN— First heat : J. M. Hyde 1. TV. Barnard 2. Four others started. Tune, 13 2-ssec. Second heat: N. N. Smith, 1, A. J. Heighwav 2.
