The usual monthly meeting of the Otago Cei.tie- of lhe New Zealand Amateur Ath"et:c Asscciation was held in the office* of the secretary, Cray.-ford street, on the 12th mit Mr A. Marryatt presided, and there was a good attendance of members. The New Zealand Association wro'e intimating that a mistake was made in regard to the next Austialasian championship meeting. The date was originally fixed for January 17, but «ia nothing had been heard since it was presumed the Tasmanian association had postponed the meeting possibly until towards the end of the year. The Dunedin Harriers were granted- permission to have silver plate= placed on the pole of tho inter-club C C banner, and to have the names of members of winning teams engraved thereon, the expenses to be borne b- the club. The New Zealand Amateur Association wrote under date 9th February that H. G. Burk'<» rerord for the ha'f-mile had been duly passed by tho council The association intimated that in connection with records the council had decided that in futuie no applications for records would be considered unless they were submitted three months after the performance. The Dunedin Harriers wrote suggesting that an incentive would be given to amateur athletics if the honour of winning a medal were enhanced by allowing it to be awarded to winners of championship events only, and not to winners of handicaps; and, further, that the Otago Centre be asked to instruct the delegates to raise the question at the conference to be held in Christchurcb. in February. — The letter was referred to the delegates.
