Minister of Railways with the object o{ obtaining such a concession as will enable a free pass on the railways to be obtained by any deserving person meeting with an accident which necessitates his removal -to ! an hospital, a free pase also to be granted to anyone accompanying such injured person and atending him on the journey. i, It was decided to 00-operate with the , Ashburton branch in its endeavour to have portion of stock auctioneers' license fees allocated to the country districts instead of the whole sum as at present being paid to the town in which the licenses are taken out. Tho argument used in support of the proposed alteration is that the stock travel principally over the count ry roads, and not to any extent over the town roads, and, therefore, the central town should not have the whole of the money to the exclusion of the other local bodies in the same district.
