TIMARU GRAIN REPORT.
(Herald, 9th mst.) Wheat. — The quality of the new reason's wheat represented by samples? < oining to hand i? superior to that of several past seasona. All the samples so far are in good condition. Values of wheat are as under : —2s lid for red chaff, and up to 3s for Ttiscan and velvet. Only small quantities have changed hands eo> far, but business will become general in the course of a week or 10 days. "Oats. — A few samples have been placed" on« the markets. They are nice and! bright irr colour, but are on the light side. The yield* were better than were anticipated, and in several instances 50, 60, and up to 80 bushel crops are reported. Values are as follow: — Duna and Gartens, up to 2s 3d; Danish, 2a Id. on trucks Timaru, sacks 7d. Barley. — Only one line has been submitted to -the markets as yet, but it was very thin, and cannot compete with the northern-grown product. Prime malting is worth 3s 9d\ country stations. A few inquiries have been? made for Cape barley, but there- ia non» offering.
