WELLINGTON NOTES.
By Osvooxmm. February 9. The monthly meeting of the Metropolitan Club will be held on Monday, when a statement in connection with the Cup meeting will be brought down. It is likely to be of a most satisfactor5 r nature.
Ancile (Addmgton — Brown Spec) has been sold to a patron of W. Davio's stable, and now occupies a box at the Hutt. He xs -a half biother. to Ballarat and Windy, and opened his winning account at Pahiatria. Chatter, a three-year-old sister to Ancyle. is still a maiden. She is engaged at the Shannon meeting at the end of the month.
After the Pahiatua meeting Waihtrka changed hands, and is now i stablemate of Splendid Idea, at Bulls.
In the rush for places at the start for the Wellington Racing Club Handicap Achilles got rather badly galloped on. The champion is getting all right, and will probably be seen out in the Jacks>on Stakes at Wanganui next jsonth.
The Hutt-traineo! lEolus was successful in the Craven Plate of Riccarton. The Euroclydon gelding, who 16 held under lease by his present owner-tratner, has been a consistent performer this season, and has succeeded at the last four meetings he competed at — Manawatu, Rangitikei, Wellington, and Canterbury.
The Porirua-trained horses William and Gold Crest were sent south this week for the Biccarton meeting. The stable did not engage anything at the first day at Woodville. Exmoor, William, and Playmate are in on the second day.
Mr Prosser was laid up several days with an tfld^ complaint, but is getting convalescent again, and is able to attend to his charges. He leaves on Monday for Hawera with Marguerite, Kuku, and Pawa. At the Eketahuna meeting this week the Porirua cast-off Monsieur Beaucaire (Stepniak — Belle Clair) won two events. He was brought out again and ran third. The stewards were not satisfied wihh the performance, and disqualified the horse, trainer, and rider for six months. Anderson, who left regular employment after he obtained a jockey's license, may have his license withdrawn on Monday.
Monsieur Beaucaire has engagements at the Woodville arid Shannon meetings this month. If the Eketahuna case does not come before the Metropolitan Committee on Monday nest, he will be able to compete at the meetings nanwd
