''What is a Medium V" "Why are Prescriptions in Latin?" "What is the North Pole?" ere, ore. The past month vould appenr to have been faxo'ira'olc i« the humoiist, tho caricaturist. and_ the cartoonist, for "The Humour of 1 hings" contains in all its departments \erj excellent food for laughter. Dr Fitchett continues to discourse (and hc\ve\er threadbare his topics he always di-cours^s with lireraiy on '"Indian Architecture." There i« a tragic paper on "Child Labour, with illustrations in silhouette, which are remarkably effective to the topic. •The Booklo\er"' is scarcely up to its cuitoman interest, but tlie other \aiied departments are stocked with judicious selections, for the bu-y man and countij reader, while tho continuation of tbe Tra falgar article is full of \igour. and will interest readers who enjoy this line of reading. The Monthly Review open« i\ith a capital article- on '"England, France. mul Socialism," by Laurence Jerrold. A very warm appreciation of tho late \\ alter Patu. the man and his work will be meat and drink to thc*e who think as highly of that wrilci' s "style and place in lit^ratuie as .does the writer.
