ROAD BOAR D MEETINGS.
The regular monthly meeting of the Peninsula Road Board was held on Saturday, and was attended by Messrs M'Curdy (chairman). Bishop, Black, Riddell, Robertson, and Walker. It was decided that, on account of the by-laws now enforced by the St. Kilda. Council and the City Council regarding the driving of cattle, the clerk write to the Minister of Public Works, through Mr E. G. Allen, M.H.R., asking that the railway line be reinstated at Anderson's Bay for the purpose of providing a siding to truck cattle to Burnside on Wedneedaxs and other market days ; also to convey building material, agricultural lime, and other produce to the district, and to convey hydraulic lime and other produce from the Peninsula to their various destinations. It was also decided to ask for the cooperation of the St. Hilda Council, Bay Town Board, and Tomahawk, Portobello, and Otago Heads Road Boards. It was decided to pay 2s per 100 for birds' egga. The clerk of the Bay Town Board wrote with reference to the rep-airs required on the Main road, and. the matter was. left to Mr M'Curdy. Robertson's road, Sandymcunt. was rescinded. Mr John Jury's resignation of his position as surfaceman for the Highcliff subdivision was accepted. Mr Robertson reported that the road near the church required some repairs, and it was decided to instruct Mr Henderson to attend to the work. The clerk was instructed to notify that all rates and dog tax must be paid before November 1. It was decided that the next meeting of the board be held on Saturday, February 2. 1907, and the chairman and clerk were authorised to attend to the payment of small accounts monthly during the interval. Accounts amounting to £S2 15s lOd were passed for payment. A special meeting of the Tomahawk Read Board was held on Thursday, and was attended by Messrs Stewait (chairmen), Mathieson, Henderson, Robertson, and Stewart, jun. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the advisability of paying off the balance of the loan of £400 which was raised by a special rate to make a deviation of the new Main road. The Clerk stated that all the rates had been collected, and explained the financial position of the board, which was satisfactory. It was decided to close the special rate account with the bank, and to pay off the- balance of the -loan. The Chairman stated that credit was due to a small local body such as the Tomahawk Road Board when a loan of £400. bearing interest of 3J per cent., was paid off within five years. The chairman and clerk were authorised to attend to the paying of any small accounts. Accounts amounting to £107 63 7d were passed for payment.
