CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AK3> PRODUCE REPORT. (Lytt<on Times, Ist inst.) A little wheat ha& changed hands during -the week at 3s 4|d to 3a 5d f.0.b., sacks extra, for mixed milling lines. Hunter's alone has ben sold at 3s 3d for secondary lines, and 3s 4d for prime. The total transactions have not been la;rge, buyers being unwilling to commit themselves beyond immediate requirements while the tariff remains unsettled. Stocks of wheat in town and port are reported to be small, but farmers are said to have considerable quantities in the country. Oats we dull, but firm; the principal demand is for seed. The following quotations are for purchases from farmers, noi 'cash, sacks ertra : — Wheat. — Mixed lines f.a.q. 3a 3d, Tuscan 3s 4d, pearl 3s 3d, Hunters 3s 2d, damaged (whol« fowl feed) 2s lid -to 3s at country stations. Oats. — Prim* Canadians, Duns, sparrow-bills, and Gartons. 2s 3d; Danish 2s Id, light and discoloured Id to 2d 'ess, all at country stations. Barley. — Prime malting 3s 6d ia 3s 9d, thinner samples 3s to 3s 3d, feed 2s 6d to 2s 9d, Cape barley 2s 8d to 2s 6d per bushel at country statoma. Flour. — The New Zealand Flourmillers' Cooperative Association (Limited) quotes the following prices per ton, local or skipping: — Sacks £8 10s, 1001b bags £9, 501b bags £9 ss, 251b bags £9 10a. Pollard £5. Bran £3 15s. Oartmea' £13. Chaff. — Oatsheaf, prime bright 60s to 62s 63, medium quality 555, discoloured 50s, at ountry stations. P*as. — Partridge 3s 66} to 3s 9d, Prussian blue 3b 9d, prime lines higher rates. Imperial Blue 4s, Ivory White 4s 6d, at country stations. Beans. 3s 6d per bushel, at country stations. Seeds — Ryegra-ss farmers' lines, good 3s 3d to 3s 6d, medium 2s 9d to 39 per bushel, at country stations. Italian 2s 6d' to 3i. Cocksfoot (nominal) 131b to 141b, good average colour 3d to 3Jd, extra brigu*. and clean 33d to 3Jd per lb, light and damaged 2jd> to 3d per lb. Red clover 6JcI -to 7Jd extra quality 7jd, white cover s}d to 6Jd per lb. Potatoes.— Table Up-to-date £10 to £11. Derwents £9 10s to £10. Seed- Ui*-to-da+e £11 10s, kidneys £10 10s, early rose £9 10s. Onions £6 to £7 per ton at country stations. Dairy Produce. — Cheese, dairy. large 5Jd to 6d, loaf 6Jd; factory, large 6Jd, loaf 7d. Butter, fresh, local factory prints and bulk lod, dairy butter lOd, farm separator lid. Ho ma and rolls 6£d. roiled bacon Bd, sides 7Jd. Fie>?h eggs lOd. Honey. — Extracted 3Jd pur lb; sections, first gr?de, 5s per dozen. Beeswax, clean, bright, first grade, Is 2d pei lb. ASHBURTOX GRAI.\ MAKKJt.T. Wheat. — There has been some !i*tle inquiry from millers, and several lines have changed hands at last quotations, but no large sales have been reported. Quotations remain unaltered, with a slightly easier feeling: — Tuscan 3s 3d. pearl 3s 2d, Hunters 3b Id. Oats. — There is slightly better inquiry, principally for North Island, but no improvement is reported in prices, which remain at: Canadians 2s 2d. Gartons aL.d short feed 2s Id, Danish Is lid to 2s. TIMARU GRAIN MAKKI/1. The local market still remains very quiet, end not much business is passing. Millers are holding off wheat, and merchants and holders are "sitting tight." The publication of the proposed preferential trad* treaty with Australia is not being treated very seriously. Fowl wheat is very scarce, and there is a good inquiry. Value 3 for wheat are- — Tuscan and veh-et 3s Gd. red chaff 3s od f o b , sacks extra ; fowl wheat 3s 3Jd fo b. saoks in. There ia & hetter inquiry for oats, but busi-
ness has been limited to small orders. Values are: For Duns 2s sa, Gartons 2s> 4d, Danish 2s 2d to 2s 3d; all f.0.b., sacks in. Potatoes art very scarce. 77p-to-dates are bringing £13 per ton, and Derwents £11 per ton f.0.b., sack* in. ASHBURTON SKIN AND WOOL SALES. The fortnightly skin sales were held by the various auctioneers at Ashburton last week, when there was a large entry and the usual attendance of buyers. Ruling prices were: — Skins— Half breds 2s to 8a 7d, crossbred* 29 to 8s 6d. peH 9 Gd, merinoes 2» 9d to 7s lOd, hoggets Is lOd to 6a Id. By the lb crossbreds* sold at 7id to B£<L halfbreds 8d to 8&d, merinoes BJd. Hides made 16s io 25s 6d, calfskins 2s 6d. Fat (bags) lfd, (tin) ljd, horsehair Is 5d per lb.
