THE HON. MR M'NAB AT GORF. GORE, August 14.

The Hon. R. M'Nab. Minister of Lands and Agriculture, has been received with acclamation in the Mataura district. Political friend and foo have congratulated him on the honours lately bestowed upon, him. and it would really seem that, as far as the Minister's own district is concerned, only the one opinion prevails, and that favourable in all respects to the hon. gentleman. To-day Mr M'Nab was at Knapdale, his home, and only arrived in Gore in the evening. Shortly after his arrival a deputation waited upon him at the Southland Hotel, and asked that the Mataura Railway Station be not repaired, as at present proposed, but that a new building be erected. The* request was supported by the Mayor (Mr Gait), courcillors. and residents. The Hon. Mr M'Nab promised to bring the matter under the notice of the Minister of Railways, and to support the request. At half-past 7 o'clock a complimentary banquet was tendered to the Hon. Mr As' Nab in tho Town Hall. There were about 250 ladies and gentlemen present, including visitors from all parts of the Mataura district, as well as from Milton, Bak-lulha, Invercargill, and other place?. The chair was occupied by Mr W. M'Ara (chairman of Mr M'Nab's Election Committee), and the vice-chairs were taken by Mr W. Baker (acting-Mayor) and Mr T. Green. The chairman was supported by the Hon. Mr M'Nab, Mrs Baker, and Mf J. C. Thomson, M.H.R., and on the left by Miss M'Ara, the Hon. H. Feldwick, M.L.C.. and M r A. S. Malcolm, M.H.R. The tables, which were tastefully laid out and contained an abundance of good things, were in charge of Messrs Cook and Brice, caterers.
