THE ASSOCIAT ION GAMS.

Bx Left Wise.

The following table,-which should prove useful for reference, shows, ra addition to goal* and flag points, how each senior team fared against each other team :—: —

The following tables show the relative positions of the various- schools in the threegrades, as far as can be ascertained from the results handed in to the secretary, Mr--T Young. Any school that is short-credited will know who to blame-, and may be more attentive next time: — Schools First Gbadb.

Wakari and Kaitangata, who tied for second place in the Senior Cup competition, played off at Culling Park on Saturday to decide which should compete against

the ' premier team (Northern) for the J Charity xsanner. There was a large at- f tendance of spectators, and Mr W. Morri- j son controlled the game. Wright again i played for Wakari to make up for the absence of M'Nish, Morrison, inn., filling the position of left wing, while Brown re- } placed Allen for Kaitangata, Finlay being ; back in his place as centre forward. After a game in which Kaitangata fed throughout, but which proved a mediocre exposition, Kaitangata won by 3 goals to 1. At the conclusion of the Wakari-Kai-tangaia match a trial team was matched against the Northern First Eleven. The play on both sides was patchy, the form exhibited being on the whole of a mediocre standard. The game resulted in a win for by 1 goal to nil. To-day marks the first occasion of charging for admission to Culling Park. The fence is erected, though not so completed that anyone so minded may crawl under- . neatJi. Sixpence is to be charged for ad- | mission to the match Timaru: v. Dunedin , "Wednesday representative team. Culling Park is to be the scene also of the Charity Banner match on Saturday, and the interprovmeijtl -match, Canterbury v. Otago, on September 8. Several loads of sand have , been' used to £31 fip the soft spots, and -the inb«eqtient- rotting by a two-ton roller ahould s improve the ground considerably. Las* year Eaiifcangaia took part in - Charity Banner competition, and this year they again compete, with Northern instead of Wakari as opponents. In view of the lurid- impressions that got abroad concerning Northern's recent visit to Kaitangata, and of tfee fact that each 4pam has beaten ! the ©flier once *his season, the match at i Culling Park should prove very interesting, j and * good "gate" should be looked for. i Unless Kaitangata improve considerably upon their forward game of last week Northern will have to play very poorly to suffer defeat. In a broad sense- every euc- ■ oess that falls to the Kaitangata Club J affords general pleilu'-e, because of the expense and inconvenience they go to in . their keenness for the sport. Apart from occasional' loss of work, it costs each Kaitangata tripper 9s in actual- expenses each time, he plays in Dunedin. The man who lias taken part in every match in Dunedin will therefore have expended by Saturday next a minimum of £♦ Is outside of dues to his club, boots, uniform, etc. If Kaitangata carry off the banner on Saturday to replace the cup the win will not be unpopular. • . The secretary o£ the Taranaki Association Football Union writes me as follows:— '"It may interest Association players in Dunedin to know that Dan M'Donald, an old goalkeeper for Southern, Northern, and Rangers last year I believe, is keeproy goal for the Taranaki representatives this year in the Brown Shield tournament. lara " naki plays Hoahine* at Hawera on August 29; Auckland . plays Wellington* at New Plymouth on August 30, and the final is . played at Efcbam on September L This information just to help along your notes. OTAGO FOOTBALL" ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the O.F.A. was held at Moray place tfn Monday evening, Mr Eraslie (vice-president), in the chair. The SecHJtarr of the Tiraaru Club forwarded the following names of the team picked to play in Dunedin next Wednesday — BB u dd, Harrison, Binning, Eden, Horwell, Bndd, Miller, Rollinson. Keen, Howie, and Jamieson ; reserve, Dalgleish. The Hon. R. M'Nab wrote thanking the committee for congratulations on his accession to Ministerial rank. _ The Canterbury Association wrote tnat Saturday, Bth September, would be a suitable date on which to hold the representative match against Ofago.— lt was resolved to play the fixture on Culling Park on that date.— The team will arrive in Dunedm by the second express on the 7tK prox. Re Injured Player.— A letter was received from Mr F. J. Wall, secretary of the Football Association, London. The practice in England was that if a pl«yer was injured and retired from the field of play he could not be replaced by a substitute. There might be Kttle objection to an injured player being replaced with the consent of ihe captains of the competing teams in "friendly" matches, but in competitions or league matches the practice was most undesirable. Twenty-five copies of , the Referees' Chart were forwarded by epoarate post. It w*g resolved that midday on Thursday next be the final date on which names may be received by the secretary for the match in InvereargiH on the 29th inst. The team will be picked on Thursday night.
