GORE HORSE BAZAAR
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. (Ltd.) report having helt? their ajrnual Gore spring eal« of horses on Friday and Saturday, 10th and 11th inst. Altogether theTe was an entry 'of ISO, of which 90 were draughts, tne balance being light harness- horses and hacks. As advertised, the draughts were offered on Friday, and the light horses on Saturday. Out of the total numbu offered (120) 75 were sold, 60 of these being good useful sorts for farm and contract work. The mest noticeable feature of the sale was the demand for good, sound, active young draughts. - Buyers^ for this class were present from fax and near, and eve*y horse answering to the above description wae sold, except in a few in-, stances, where the owners- reserve was far above market value, and absolutely prohibitive. The sale on Friday was a complete success. For light harness horses and hacks there was a very poor demand, and only 15 of these were sold. On both days there was a, splendid attendance of local settlers, contractors, and others from considerable distances. The average price per head for draughts ><60) was £33, and for hacks and light harness horses £13. Mr H. M'Oall (Edendale) and Mr T. Reid (Riversdale) obtained top prices for draughts at £50 each; and Mr W. P.
