COUNTRY STOCK SALES.

sale at Palmerston on Monday, when they iiad a fair entry of sheep and cattle. The attendance of farmers ■ from the surrounding district was all that could be desired,- dealers «,lse being well- represented.' There were no xeajry good sheep in the yard, but those forward were well competed for, and' realised very' full value* The demand for all sorts of store cattle was excellent, and prices showed a very decided advance on late rates; in, fact, had the yards been full they could easily have placed the lot to advantage. The Otago Fanners' Co-operative Association of New Zealand (Ltd.) report: We held our usual monthly > stock sale at our yards, Palmerston, on Monday, 6th inst. We had a id entry of sheep .and cattle, and a capital attendance of farmers and traders. Competititiou throughout the auction was very animated for a.l classes of stock in fair condition. We penned 450 hoggets, wethers, and «wes (in lamb), all of which were easily disposed of at highly satisfactory values, and five times this number could have been placed at corresponding rates, hoggets (small and off tussock country) fetching 18s to 14s lid, ewes and wethers at corresponding prices. Cattle aiso sold remarkably well. Opwg, 80s to £4; three-year-old steers, to £4; Awe-ye»r-dMe, 00s to £3 ss; dairy cows, £4 to £6. The whole of our entry, including 460 sheep and 82 head cattle, had a complete clearance under the hammer, a most successful sale being the result.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Ltd.) report having hejd their usual monthly sale of sheep and cattle at their yards. Palmerston, on Monday, 6th- inst. The -yarding consisted principally of . cattle, with a few pens of sheep. We quote the following psicets: —Three and four-year-oJd bullocks. £6 10s to £8; two-year-old steers and heifers, £2 15s to £3 10s; yearlings, 27s 6d to 255; heifers coming to calving, £5 to, £6; old cows, 35s to £2 10s; calves, J2s 6d to 20s. .We made the following •ales: — On account of Mr James Carnegie CDunback), 3 fat heifers at from £4 16s to £5«.17s 6d; Mr J.
