OTAGO EARLY SETTLERS. ASSOCIATION.

A committee meeting of tie Otago Early Settlers' Association, held in the office of the association on Monday evening, was attended by Mr Donald Reid (in the chair), Messrs Duke, Duthie. Brebner, Brown Brugh Ferens, Crawley, Praiu. G. C. Proudfoot and L Langiandf (secretary).

Votes of thanks were passed as follows: — To Mrs Mary Thomson, The Nook, Queen street, for a relic in the shape of a small reading desk, made by Mr A. C. Stewart, cabinetmaker, City road, Ros'yn. from the wood of the pulpit of the origin?! First Church, which was erected near the beach on the site where the Standard Insurance Company's bui'dings now tttand. This relic was given to Miss Jaap (now deceased), and by her to Mrs Thomson, and though highly prized by Mrs Thomson, yet, ait +be request of the secretary, was, in a most -unselfish spirit, presented to the association, so ths.t. being on view in their office, others might be gra-tdfied by seeing a relic charged with so many memories; to Mrs Charles Fynmore. Stuart street for a fan, most skilfully carved out of a piece oi wood at a sawmill, Oamaiu, and for a number of ancient photographs and lithograph* of early Dunedin, the fir3t Botanical Gardens subsequently washed away, the Old Jetty and Harbour Chambers.
