August 6 — Slowly the winter is passing away in s-pite of the bad weather. Taylor were th* speakers while a ftrong choir, under the leadership of Mr West, rendered a number oi anthems in capita l style. Solos were sung by Miss Caldef, Mrs Elliot, Mrs Dougla«, and Messrs P. Murray and West the latter also contributing two taking recitation*. Caledonian Society.— This society held its dinner on July 27, The catering v.as entrusted to Mr* M'Kcthrne, and. aa usua., great c-tti-iiaction was givsn. The function is arranged to keep membexfc together and to provide a little fun for tlicew who are kept hard at woik on the day of the sport?, and unable to enjoy themselves.
