AUCKLAND RACING CLUB
AUCKLAND, August 6.
At the annual meeting of the Auckland Racing Club the Hon. E. Mitchelson presided. The annual report of the committee (stated that during the past season the usual four meetings of 13 days wore held, and, notwithstanding the fact that a reduction of £1015 was made in the value of the stakes given (£20,655). each of the meetings was most successful. The totalisator investment tunounted to £198,864, as against £150,117 last year, an increase of £48.747. The profit in the four race meetings — viz., spring, summer, autumn, and winter, — after deducting all expenses of -every character, totalled £4286 16s lid, which, after writing off the whole of the defalcations account (£2412 2a 4d), 10 per oent. depreciation (£959 17s lid), and providing a reserve fund against doubtful accounts (£150), leaves a balance of £764 16s 8d to be carried to capital account, a result which should be gratifying to the jnembera.
A number of Taranaki dairy companies expect to start the coming season's operations during this month. WOLFE'S SCHNAPPS gives good-fellow-ship to the well.
